ÅÅngström Atelier

Privacy & data

Ångström Atelier is a protein research workspace operated by Fiona Samson. This page describes how the application uses your account and research data.

Google sign-in

When you sign in, the application receives your Google account identifier, name, and email address. The identifier connects you to your private workspace. Your name and email identify your account in the interface and in the owner’s compute-grant controls. Sign-in requests basic identity information; it does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, or other Google files.

Your proteins and results

The application stores imported structures, import drafts, selected chains, preparation records, simulations, designs, and downloaded-result packages so you can return to your work. Account authorization separates these records from other users’ workspaces. Public starter structures and their measured recordings are shared reference data.

Service providers and administration

Google processes sign-in. The web application and account database use OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare hosting infrastructure. Modal hosts the protein service, private storage, and scientific workers. When you import by PDB or UniProt identifier, the application sends that identifier to RCSB PDB or EMBL-EBI AlphaFold to retrieve the structure; those lookups do not send your Google profile or uploaded structure files. These providers process the information needed to operate those services and may maintain technical logs. The operator can administer the hosting systems and storage; private workspaces are not end-to-end encrypted from the operator.

Cookies and retention

The application uses a secure session cookie to keep you signed in for up to seven days, and a short-lived cookie during Google sign-in. Signing out invalidates the current session. Account identity and profile information, compute usage and grant records, protein data, and scientific results remain saved until removed by the operator, including in response to a deletion request. Operational backups and provider logs may have separate retention periods.

Questions or deletion requests

Contact fionacsamson@gmail.com from the email associated with your account to request access, correction, or deletion of your workspace data, or to ask about the service. Avoid placing confidential structures in the email itself.
